The first observation of Grapholita nigrostriana (Tortricidae) in Hungary is reported. The study describes the diagnosis, the bionomics, and the geographical distribution of the species. Sightings in Poland and Slovakia are also discussed. Diagnostic markers for the identification of the species are presented in photographs and diagrams. The distribution of the species in central Europe is shown on a map
