The purpose of this paper is to examine the roleof the Programme for Higher Education, Research and Development in the Western Balkans 2010-2016 (the HERD programme) in the process of improving the curriculum at the Faculty of Architecture in Sarajevo. In its history of 67 years, the Faculty of Architecture in Sarajevo has changed the curriculum only a few times.With the introduction of the Bologna process at the University of Sarajevo, the Faculty of Architecture was the first to adopt the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) and changed its structure from the former five-year graduate course to a Bachelor and Master course (3+2 years respectively).
