Sludge is the by-product of the sewage treatment. The quantity of sludge is very large and the component of it is very complex. If sludge can't be well disposed, it will give rise to twice pollution. At the same time, sludge is also belong to resource. How to treatment and utilize become noticed problem in the global. And in the recent years most of countries make much more strict regulations on the time and space of disposing sludge. Generally there are four methods are used in sludge treatment, such as landfill, incineration, composting and discharge to sea. In this paper we compared the advantages and disadvantages of various methods, affirmed that incineration is one of the most practicable technology in the field of sludge treatment in the world. Its obvious advantages are fast disposal speed, decreasing components efficiently and recycling, so incineration technology has been a main method of sludge treatment in the future. we also analyzed the effects of various factors on sludge incineration, such as time, temperature, component and air. We consider the characteristics to be a fundamental for achievement the ideal condition of sludge incineration
