Background: Abdominal adiposity is suggested to be more closely associated with CVD risk and has been highlighted as a growing problem particularly in countries of Asia-Pacific region where individuals may exhibit a relatively normal BMI (<25 kg/m2) but have a disproportionately large waist circumference.
