This presentation offers insight on the current status of Hadza language use as observed during a recent trip to the Mang’ola Ghorofani area. Increased interaction between the Hadzabe, tourists and tour guides, and increasing numbers of Hadza children being sent to boarding schools, appears to be contributing significantly to language change and language shift among the Mang’ola Hadzabe. The effects of these interactions will be presented in conjunction with a critical overview of the maintenance efforts that are being pursued during this critical period.
