Shariah Regulations for the Halal Industry: An Analytical Jurisprudence Study in the Light of the Turkish Foundation (GIMDES) Experience

Abstract The topic “Shari’ah regulations of the Halal Industry, an Analytical Jurisprudence Study in the Light of the Experiment of the Turkish GIMDIS Foundation” is important because the halal industry has become one of the fields in which countries compete with each other in order to gain profits and economic benefits by attracting people to their products, This competition between countries has prompted our contemporary jurists to shed light on the standards adopted by countries in legalizing this industry. The problem of the research is that, as a result of the great momentum that the halal industry gained since the late twentieth century during the dispersal of Muslims in parts of the globe, the need for halal products on which they depend in their daily lives has emerged. Unfortunately, this urgent need was sometimes exploited by a group of countries that sought to earn money at the expense of these Muslim segments. All what these countries did was contacting with a handful of supposedly Islamic foundations, with the aim of obtaining certified halal certificates for them, and giving them the “Halal” brand mark; To win over the Muslim public in those countries, and encourage them to buy from them after trusting the “Halal” label printed on every product they buy; That is why the desire to explore the depths of this field prompted us to stand on the standards set by the Turkish GIMDIS Foundation to regularize this industry. In this research, we will follow this inductive-analytic approach, where we will extrapolate the opinions of jurists, traditional and contemporary, on issues related to food in terms of its permissibility and illegitimacy, and then we will analyse and scrutinize these opinions until we find out what is the most correct of them after they are presented to the texts of Sharia and its rules, and we will follow the comparative approach wherever it is necessary to compare their opinions. At the end of his research, the research concluded that everything that falls under the term halal industry, such as food, drink, clothing, medication, and adornment, is closely related to people's daily lives, and is indispensable to them. Therefore, this industry was the focus of the attention and care of Islamic law, and this is what gave it a great position and importance.
