Since the early 1990s, policing in South Africa have been confronted with specific dilemmas. They include demand for increased street policing, complaints about the increase in violent crimes and the growth in private security provisioning. It is within this context that the researcher used qualitative data from primary and secondary sources to study the emerging dimensions from society. Purposive sampling was used to select 30 respondents for interviews during 2018 from the Tshwane district in Gauteng.
