This deliverable presents the findings from four part studies such as literature review, interviews, interdisciplinary study groups and surveys that were carried out under WP1 “Aligning science teaching/learning in formal contexts with the modus operandi of R&I”. This WP aims to identify the limits and advantages of disciplinary knowledge organisation and boundaries or barriers it erects to the advantages of inter-/multi-/trans-disciplinarity in science education. By exploiting the advantages of both disciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches to science education and addressing the limits of present knowledge organisation it proposes a framework for aligning science teaching/learning in formal contexts with the modus operandi of R&I
