ASSURED Bus Service Functions

In Europe it is not possible to define unique bus service models for cities, operators and authorities, as their roles change from one city to another. Past projects such as ZeEUS identified a model collecting the functions that compose the bus service, independently from the actor responsible for that in each city. Based on this model, the present deliverable validates the service functions for the ASSURED cities Barcelona, Eindhoven, Gothenburg and Osnabruck. Chapter 3 provides a brief introduction of the main objectives of D10.1, inputs, main results and links with related deliverables. Chapter 4 presents a selection of important projects and initiatives in the field of bus services, describing the main objectives of each of them and how the results can be taken into account in ASSURED. Chapter 5 describes the complexity of the organisational models for public transport and how the different models are highly dependent on the local context. Chapter 6 introduces how to approach the design and implementation of electric bus systems with a brief description of the system approach and the ZeEUS phased approach. Chapter 7 introduces the characteristics of public transport and the role of e-bus systems to increase quality of life. Against this background, the chapter describes the review procedure and validation of the bus service functions. Finally, the chapter illustrates the different approaches followed by the ASSURED cities, Eindhoven, Osnabruck, Barcelona and Gothenburg and the roles assign to the identified bus service functions
