Academic Mentorship in Engineering Education: a Mechanism for the Improvement of the Teaching Activity

The purpose of this study is to investigate mentorship as a mechanism for the improvement of teachers’ professional skills in higher engineering education. By implementing mentoring in further education programs as a learning platform involving more experienced colleagues we aim to strengthen collaborative relationships between colleagues and increase both the visibility of the institution and the prestige of the teaching career. Mentoring programs are also a foundation for sharing knowledge and expertise between teachers/lecturers with different teaching experience, aiming at increasing teaching performance
