OVERPOPULATION AND ITS IMPACT ON ENVIRONMENT

Overpopulation has been acknowledged as a major global environmental issue since few decades, as it has caused a number of negative effects on environment. The main factors contributing to the formation of this inverted pyramid demographic structure are modern medical services and illiteracy in some interior parts of developing countries. Having too many people has had a number of disastrous effects, including growing strain on the planet's natural resources. Deforestation, climate change, urban sprawl, food security, increase in energy consumption and effect on marine ecosystem, decline in biocapacity are some of the most severe effects of population growth. Steps that are specific must be taken on national and international level to combat the adverse consequences of overpopulation. To prevent the negative consequences of population growth and ensure the sustainability of the natural environment, resources for future generations can be secured. Our environment is under tremendous stress due to the quick expansion in human population. Developing countries are under increased pressure to compete economically, yet their industrial breakthroughs are also harmful as wealthier countries continue to destroy the environment and deplete its resources. The demands that this increase is placing on the environment globally are endangering the continuation of sustainable human life. Global warming is one of the most significant environmental repercussions of human population expansion. The expanding population increases the pressure on our finite resources. The increasing population of the world is having a negative impact on the environment. In order to guarantee that life on earth will continue to be sustainably throughout the twenty-first century, critical issues including the depletion of resources and biodiversity, the generation of waste, and the destruction of natural habitat must be addressed
