Jets are a ubiquitous phenomenon in all classes of accreting stellar-mass compact objects; white dwarfs, neutron stars, and black holes. While jet production appears to be fundamentally related to the process of accretion, the exact nature of the coupling between the accretion flow and jets remains to be determined. In this talk, I will introduce and review our current understanding of the connection between the accretion inflow and jet outflows during an outburst. In particular, I will focus on this relationship around and during X-ray state transitions, with a discussion on what we can learn about jet launching from the observations. I will also briefly discuss what the immediate future holds for accretion-ejection studies of X-ray binari...
