Mechanism of Mass Movements and the Factors Contributing to Landslides in the River Valleys of Lowland Areas on the Example the Rutki Landslide (the Central Radunia Valley, Poland)

This Poster is primarily intended as supplementary material to the article (Małka et al., 2022). This work aims to analyse the mechanisms and factors contributing to shallow soil (earth) landslides in river valleys of lowland areas on the example of the mass movement in Rutki, where various research methods were used. The study used mainly primary data, i.e. field observation, piezometers and inclinometers. We collected and reinterpreted secondary data (both raw and interpreted) from different resources (e.g. the Polish National Geodetic and Cartographic Resources; Polish Geological Institute; INGEO Company, Berlin State Library, the Internet). Numerical and spatial analyses were performed on the bassis of the obtained data. The study has also involved the following methods of investigation: analysis of daily rainfall records in relation to landslide occurrence and study of historical changes in land use, with particular emphasis on the construction of roads, railways and the hydroelectric power plant. The analysis of old maps, geotechnical documentation, and the current field research indicate multiple changes in the outflow of groundwater, surface waters and location of springs associated with anthropogenic changes in land use and the appearance of landslides in this area
