On March 30, 2007, India and eighty-two other countries signed the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). On December 16, 2016, the Indian Parliament enacted a law that discharged the duty that had been in place for almost ten years. The courts in India employed the RPD and its travaux préparatoires to fill the legal gap in the absence of municipal law or legal framework addressing the question of reasonable accommodations and the standard for determining "undue hardship." The judiciary has always given the green light treatment to a significant differently abled person. Some people with disabilities require extra protection against discrimination.
