Conventional methods for analyzing functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) signals primarily focus on characterizing linear dynamics of the underlying metabolic processes. Nevertheless, linear analysis may underrepresent the true physiological processes that fully characterizes the complex and nonlinear metabolic activity sustaining brain function.
