Genre-Style Peculiarities of Ukrainian Composers' Works of the Late Nineteenth and Early Twentieth Centuries

The aim of this article is elucidation of the reasons for the active development of Ukrainian musical creativity at the end of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the actualization of popular folk traditions in the leading composers’ music during this era, comprehension of its genre, style and thematic palette, determination of artists’ innovation. Research methodology. The analysis of literary sources is the main approach. A lot of publications on the subject (magazines, newspaper articles, brochures) have been reviewed. This methodological approach allows us to study the work and use of the Ukrainian diaspora’s acquired experience, to determine the deep cooperation of the figures in the Ukrainian musical culture in the diaspora and Ukraine, their activities’ support by state and non-governmental organizations. Results. It has been found that, studying and using the acquired experience of the Ukrainian musical culture leaders in Ukraine and emigration, popularization by state and public organizations, development of a national strategy in this direction can become one of the most important factors of preservation and formation of the national «identification», capable not only to withstand the struggle against the destruction of the national globalization and traditional priorities, but also to actively engage in the cultural dialogue. The Ukrainian folk-discipleship material have been considered and analyzed, and they have engaged a leading place in the creative work of the Ukrainian national composer’s school representatives. Ukrainian people’s poetic and musical talent have provided a high level of musical and song creativity development. Ukrainian music in this period developed in close connection with the people’s life, their struggle for social and national liberation. Novelty. An attempt has been made in this article to expand the Ukrainian composers’ perceptions at a separate historical stage of the state, and how it influenced on the development of the musical culture in Ukraine in general. The practical significance. Ukrainian composers may find the information contained in this article useful for developing a new stage in Ukrainian musical culture
