Syringophilopsis passerinae Clark 1964

Syringophilopsis passerinae (Clark, 1964) (Figs. 39–44) Syringophilus passerinae Clark, 1964: 91, figs. 3, 26 and 27 Syringophilopsis passerina Kethley 1970: 23 This species was originally described as Syringophilus passerinae ex Passerina cyanea from Maryland (USA) (Clark 1964). In 1970, Kethley moved this taxon to the genus Syringophilopsis. Since the original description and figures are insufficient, we give a redescription of this species based on new material from the type host species. Until now, it was known only from the type host, and additionally, we give a new host record for this species. Description. FEMALE (Figs 39–44). Total body length 855–1000 in 4 specimens. Gnathosoma. Infracapitulum apunctate. Hypostomal apex with 2 pairs of short protuberances (Fig. 41). Each transverse branch with 3–4 chambers, each longitudinal branch with 12–13 chambers (Fig. 42). Length of stylophore and movable cheliceral digit 215–230 and 150, respectively. Idiosoma. Propodonotal shield sparsely punctate near bases ve and si and strongly sculptured at lateral bands. Length ratio of setae vi:ve:si 1: 1.5: 2. Setae se and c 1 situated at same transverse level. Hysteronotal shields absent (Fig. 43). Pygidial shield well sclerotized, apunctate. All terminal setae (f 1, f 2, h 1 and h 2) long. Aggenital setae ag 1–3 subequal in length. Genital setae g 1 and g 2 subequal in length, both about 5–6 times shorter than ag 2. Pseudanal setae ps 1 and ps 2 subequal in length. Coxal fields I–IV apunctate. Setae 3 b and 3 c subequal in length. Cuticular striations as in Figs. 39 and 40. Legs. Fan-like setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 14–16 tines (Fig. 44). Setae tc’ and tc” of legs III–IV subequal in length. Apodemes I fused to apodemes II in anterior part of apodemes II. Lengths of setae: vi 190–230; ve 305–350; si 470–485; se 470–490; c 1 460–470; c 2 430–455; d 1 450–465; d 2 425–455; e 430; f 1 500–530; f 2 500–530; h 1 540–550; h 2 540–550; ps 1 and ps 2 45; g 1 and g 2 40–50; ag 1 300; ag 2 250–305; ag 3 305–360; sc 3 and sc 4 40–50; tc’III– IV 80–100; tc” III–IV 90– 120; 3 b 160–180; 3 c 170–180.
