I present recent results from a multi-wavelength analysis of the SPT-CL J2106-5844. Among the most massive galaxy clusters ever observed at a redshift z>1, multiple studies have shown that the system is undergoing a major merger. Observations of the Sunyaev-Zeldovich (SZ) effect by the Atacama Large Millimeter Array allowed us to identify two distinct components to the intracluster medium, more or less cospatial with mass sub-structures found in the independent weak-lensing reconstruction of the cluster mass.
