The aim of this article is to define the legacy of ballet. This text is dealing with the concept of this category, its content and characteristics. The main structural division is connected with the text and performing text — choreography. It is important to underline that the most important ballet performances — such as “Swan Lake”, “Sleeping Beauty”, “Le Corsaire”, “Raymonda” (which are part of ballet repertory worldwide) — are connected with a particular time frame (end of 19 Century) and with names of choreographers Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. Their choreographic ideas and constructed dance aesthetics revealed universal and timeless values that still communicate with contemporary audience
