Background: Neuroinflammation has gained increasing attention as a potential contributing factor in Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology. A clinical cerebrospinal fluid biomarker capable of monitoring this process during the course of the disease has yet to emerge, chiefly owing to contradictory research findings.
