Peculiarities of V. Zemlyak's Screenwriting

The purpose of the article is to study and analyze the peculiarities of V. Zemlyak’s screenwriting in the context of the development of Ukrainian cinematography in the 1960s-1970s. The research methodology consisted in the organic set of methods of personology, objectivity, multifactorness, systematicity, complexity, and the historical-biographical method. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the study of V. Zemlyak’s screenplay heritage in the context of life conflicts as a factor of influence on the formation of the worldview, ideological-artistic system and author’s style of the artist. The peculiarities of V. Zemlyak’s activity of writing screenplays for heroic-adventure feature films and military dramas («The Daughter of Strathion», «On the Way To Kiev», «Conscience», «Impudence») are highlighted. Conclusions. V. Zemlyak’s contribution to the enrichment of Ukrainian literature and cinematography is difficult to overestimate. Having devoted this research to the analysis of the screenplay heritage of the 1960s-1970s in the context of life conflicts as a factor of influence on the formation of the worldview, ideological-artistic system and author’s style of the artist, it was established that the problem of choice in the most difficult aspect - self-sacrifice; the problem of conscience and honor, not in petty situations but when the life or death of friends, relatives and beloved people depends on the moral principles; the duty of a person who considers themselves first and foremost a patriot; an effective search for ways out of the most abnormal, fatal situations - was repeatedly highlighted by V. Zemlyak in the context of philosophical comprehension of the emotional experiences of the characters in challenging, critical moments of life, changes in human destiny and characters during war
