Lars Von Trier Cinema: Europe and America Trilogy

Feminist thought and women's movements also criticize the world that cinema has shown. In the cinema, women are accepted and criticized as a product of the male gaze. The woman, the innocent young girl and the mother with their roles in the family, is thought of as someone who should look beautiful, in love with harmony in social life. The female representations formed by the male point of view see the woman as passive. In this point of view, when women become a factor, they oppose their social roles. From the beginning of the 20th century, when cinema became a sector, to the present, women are represented with certain typologies. In this research, female representation in cinema and feminist theory are discussed, and Lors Von Trier's European and American Trilogy is analyzed with semiotic method and various data are tried to be revealed
