Three new chelating agents N-o-m-and p-nitro-benzenesulphonylglycines have been prepared to study the effect of nitro-group substitution and its position in the benzene ring on chelating properties of N-benzenesulphonyl glycine. The compounds isolated are of the types: (1) MII (RoH) (OH) (H2O) where MII =CUII CdII, or HgII ; (2) MII (RoH)2, where MII =CuII or CdII ; (3) K2Hg (Ro)2, and K2Cu (Rp)2, where RoH2 =N-o-nitrobenzenesulphonylglycine and RpH2=N-p-nitrobenzenesulphonylglycine
