In this study, we present a simple, economical and environmentally friendly approach to synthesize 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones. This involves a one-pot, three-component condensation process using ethyl acetoacetate, an aldehyde, and urea or thiourea. The reaction takes place efficiently with glacial acetic acid acting as a catalyst under grinding conditions, leading to good yields
