Výsypka Radovesice – příklad úspěšné rekultivace v podmínkách 21. století / Radovesice spoil heap - an example of successful reclamation under the conditions of the 21. century

An important task of the mining company Severočeské doly a.s. is to restore the ecological stability of the areas affected by brown coal mining. An example of such an activity can be the successful reclamation of the Radovesice spoil heap, the methodology of which already reflects the new requirements of this century. The article summarizes the history, present, and perspectives of the site. Emphasis is placed on the results of long-term research of reclaimed and successive areas from a pedological and biological point of view. The success of marl application is evaluated and attention is given to the elimination of potential risks, including climate change.
