Komoditas ubikayu merupakan komoditas pangan alternatif yang saat ini di Provinsi Bangka Belitung sedang meningkat. Komoditas ubikayu akan menjadi trend para petani dan menjadi komoditas unggulan Provinsi Bangka Belitung selain dari komoditas unggulan; lada putih, kelapa sawit dan karet. Komoditas ubikayu tersebut dapat didiversifikasikan menjadi tepung tapioka yang memiliki nilai tambah lebih baik dan suatu saat dapat menunjang perekonomian Bangka Belitung dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembangunan daerah. Peningkatan tersebut harus didukung dengan model tata niaga dan kendali hambatan terbaik sehingga komoditas ubikayu dapat memberikan kontribusi nyata dalam pembangunan daerah.
