Insights from Brandenburg's first RDM-Spring School for students

This poster was presented at the RDM Trainer Network Meeting. The session was planned to foster exchange regarding perspectives on “the job” and offered the chance to show how and with which methods RDM can be taught. As part of the collaborative project "Institutionalized and sustainable Research Data Management in Brandenburg" (IN-FDM-BB, https://fdm-bb.de/), we designed a certificate course for Master students in Brandenburg. The course was conducted as a week-long Online-Spring School, was free of charge, and took place for the first time during the semester break in March 2023. These choices were made to remove location-based or financial obstacles and ensure maximal accessibility to all students. We did, however, limit the maximum number of participants to 30. This was done to encourage exchange and discussion in smaller groups and to allow for sufficient support by the lecturers. Lecturers from the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, the University of Potsdam and the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg focused on the following topics: an interdisciplinary introduction to RDM, metadata, data management plans, technical research data infrastructures and tools, publication and legal aspects of research data, good scientific practice and project management. Certificate courses for researchers or research support staff are currently being planned.
