The purpose of this paper is the modelling and simulation a power electronic converter system for a stand- alone variable speed diesel gen-set. The main goal to use a power electronic converter system is due to electrical energy processing of the variable speed permanent magnet generator to a constant frequency and constant rms voltage output. The variable speed gen-set should be able to supply both linear/non-linear and balanced/unbalanced loads at constant voltage and frequency at optimum engine fuel consumption
