IMPLEMENTATION OF DISTIBUTION SYSTEM CIRCUIT BREAKER RECLOSING FUNCTION IN THE MEDIUM VOLTAGE DISPATCH TRAINING SIMULATOR

After the first phase of development of the Dispatcher Training Simulator (DTS software), there was a need to train novice dispatchers on specific scenarios with a focus on manipulations deep in the medium voltage distribution power system and the procedural actions that follow them. One of the most frequent events in this part of the network is transient and permanent earth faults of the overhead line network. In order for the simulator to convey to the trainee the real conditions and behavior of the system during such disturbances, as faithfully as possible, it was necessary to develop an automatic (interactive) representation of automatic reclosing (AR) function of the switchgear on the medium voltage outlet when a fault is simulated. The AR function was developed with two cycles - fast and slow reclosing. As the SCADA system within the simulator is completely identical (both software and hardware) to the SCADA system in the dispatch center, during the simulation of disturbances, the switching states of the power system elements on the SCADA images change as a result of the operation of the relay protection AR functions. They are followed by appropriate signalling in the event list, changes in displayed measurements (as a result of changes in power flows immediately after the failure) and with adequate sound alarm. With all of these, the participant has the impression that he is sitting in a real dispatcher's chair in one of Serbia’s power industry dispatcher centres
