Abstract The article studies the least squares method and its application for estimating measurement uncertainty. The article shows how the parameters obtained by fitting, the intercept and the slope of the linear dependence, together with estimates of their variances and covariance, can be used to determine the correction values and its standard uncertainty from the calibration characteristic
