A brief overview on Glander

Glander is highly contagious disease of solipeds animals, usually chronic in nature characterized by formation of nodules and ulcers involving upper air passage, lungs and cutaneous tissue. The organism is potentially a bioterrorism weapon because it is contagious to humans and has a 95% death rate in untreated septicemia cases. Glanders is one of the oldest diseases known and once was prevalent worldwide. It has now been eradicated or effectively controlled in many countries, including the USA. In recent years, the disease has been reported in the Middle East, Pakistan, India, Mongolia, China, South America, Africa, and some European countries, including Russia
