The Effects Of Residents' Perceived Festival Benefıts On Intentions To Support For Festival Development: The Case Of Bozcaada

In recent years, festivals and events have played an important role in the realization of sustainable tourism. The festivals have an important contribution especially in promoting the destinations and increasing the number of tourists visiting the destinations. The organized festivals also offer economic and social benefits to residents of the destinations. The aim of this study is to determine effects of residents' perceived benefits from festivals on residents' quality of life and support for festival development in the destination. For this purpose, research data was collected from 208 residents in Bozcaada between 01.11.2019-20.11.2019 using survey technique. Confirmatory factor analysis was performed on the structures of research and structural equation model was applied to test the hypotheses. Community pride factor of perceived festival benefits, has no significant effect on residents' quality of life and support for festival development. It was revealed that perceived economic and personal benefits have positive effects on residents' quality of life and support for festival development. Especially, it has been found that the perceived personal benefits of the festivals have a strong effect on support for festival development. As a result of the findings, some suggestions has been developed for the tourism stakeholders
