Historically, three modes of university are identified: confessional, state and private-secular (Pérez and Hincapié, 2018). On this there is a long tradition of studies that inaugurate the so-called universitology (Borrero, 2002). However, the emergence of another university in Europe is recognized: popular, and other universities in Latin America and Colombia: popular, indigenous, peasant and intercultural. These other universities arise as a response of the communities to various forms of control and hegemony (Althuser, 1998) of state and private ideological power.
