The comparative effects of two different feed additives (Bacillus probiotic and antibiotic growth promoter) on the growth performance of 720 native Aseel chickens maintained in Pakistan were investigated. Different strains of Bacillus were isolated from various regions of Pakistan and the strain with maximum bacitracin-producing ability (Bacillus licheniformis KT443923) was selected for use as a probiotic. The B. licheniformis probiotic (1 g/kg of feed) and the aminoglycoside antibiotic neomycin (4 g/kg of feed) were used as feed additives.
