Key Elements that Should Characterize Intervention to ensure that Health Care Practitioners are Well Prepared to Handle Trauma Patients with PTSD, CPTSD, War Trauma, Traumatized Victims with an Aggressive Sexual Behavior, and Victims of Persons with Sexually Aggressive Behavior

This paper aims at exploring psychological trauma, especially the unique challenges that health professionals face while interacting with patients suffering from PTSD, C-PTSD, war trauma, traumatized victims with an aggressive sexual behavior (DTD), and those who have been victims of individuals with violent sexual behavior. The study employs the hermeneutic phenomenology in the review of one hundred and sixteen empirical scientific articles, which helps in the identification of factors that should be included in interventions (including training, consultations, seminars, leadership programs, and so forth) to ensure that health professionals are adequately equipped to handle disturbing details of torture, war, and rape experiences of trauma patients. Findings show that continued exposure to such experiences may evoke particular responses that may be detrimental both to the psychological and physical health of the therapist as well as the ability of the clinician to offer meaningful and helpful treatment to the patients. The study proposes the engendering of topics concerning cultural sensitivity, trust and trustworthiness, effective selection and utilization of standardized evaluation tools, response to patients’ fundamental and developmental needs and treatment evaluation skills to attain the best quality of care for patients suffering from C-PTSD, PTSD, war trauma, and traumatized initiators of violent sexual acts, and traumatized victims of sexual aggression
