Public Transport Harassment, Resilience and Perceived Safety among Female Students

Female students of the university are reluctant to take public transportation due to experiencing public transport harassment. The main aim of the study was to find out the relationship between public transport harassment, resilience, and perceived safety in female students. The present study was conducted using cross-sectional research design. Purposive sampling was used to select the sample of 200 female students with the age range of 16-27 years old. Scales which are used in the study were: The sexual Harassment Experience Questionnaire (SHEQ)developed by Kamal and Tariq in 1998. Psychological resilience scale was developed by windle et al. in 2008. The perceived safety scale was developed by Syropoulos in 2018. It was concluded that public transport harassment negatively correlates with perceived safety and resilience among female students. The results also revealed that resilience partially mediates between harassment and perceived safety
