The following article summarises the results of testing a method for the characterisation of water use in the system of life cycle assessment in the Czech Republic. The chosen method allows for robust expression of water use in the equivalent values of the reference system. The method is based on the potential renewability of water resources. To apply the method in the Czech Republic, characterisation factor values were derived for individual hydrological third‑order catchments in the Czech Republic. These values were compared with values calculated for specific profiles from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute.
