WORKPLACE STRESSORS AND JOB PERFORMANCE': THE HYPOTHESIZED MEDIATING ROLE OF JOB SATISFACTION INCASE OF HIGHER EDUCATIONAL SECTOR OF PAKISTAN

The present research looks into the examination of the relationship between job stressors and job performance with the mediating role of job satisfaction. The concept ‘job stressors’ is classified into two most important dimensions named as ‘role ambiguity and role conflict’. Data has been collected from the sample of 475 employees of higher educational institutions of Lahore, Pakistan by using self-administered close ended questionnaire. Study applies three step regressions to test the hypothesis. The results indicate significant and negative association between role conflict and job satisfaction. Similarly there is negative and significant association between role ambiguity and job satisfaction that ultimately leads to poor job performance. However, job satisfaction mediate significantly between job stressors and job performance. This study will be useful for managers in the educational sector to ensure the effective policies that help them to improve the job performance by minimizing the effect of job stressors
