The EU ReCO2ST project improves the energy efficiency and comfort levels of older structures by refurbishing them. These buildings are spread across Europe to account for the variability of climate that can be experienced on the continent. [1]–[3] The project needs Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) to provide sensory information to an Intelligent Energy Management System (IEMS) to improve functionality of older buildings that have poor energy efficiency. WSNs are becoming a major focus point in how we can provide more information in support of the Internet of Things [4], [5], [3].
