An Opportunity for Correction within the Effective System of Isolation during Execution of Punishment

The article deals with the topical issue which is the system and efficiency of execution of imprisonment, the opportunity for prisoners to be corrected through the existing system of isolation. The article considers important theoretical and practical research regarding the influence of such types of punishment and means of their execution on psychiatric and physical health of people. The works of M.V. Trofimova, A.A. Leonova, A. Kh. Stepaniuk, I.S. Yakovets and other scholars have been studied. Following existing system of punishment related to deprivation of liberty an opportunity to achieve the goal of criminal executive legislation such as correction of prisoners has been analyzed. Ukrainian and international legislation, national scientific literature has been analyzed. Problems of existing national penitentiary system have been shown. As far as current state of execution of punishments does not meet public requirements and ensuring of all rights and freedoms of those ones who are isolated and existing system has brought discredit to itself by a low effectiveness regarding achievement of goals set up by criminal executive legislation, the ways of reforming of the system as well as term of punishment related to deprivation of liberty have been proposed based on new developments of psychologists regarding the influence of duration and conditions of isolation on human psychiatry for achievement of the main goal which is correction of prisoners through psychological aspect of person’s activity. An opportunity to implement those developments in national system following modern progressive system of execution of punishment and its enshrinement at legislative level has been proposed
