A History of the Organic Agriculture Movement in Australia

This account begins in the 1920s which is six decades before other accounts which have been styled as the ‘History’ of ‘Organic Farming in Australia’ and which begin their accounts ‘in the early 1980s’, and it starts two decades before other researched accounts which begin in the 1940s. In Western Australia Ernesto Genoni joined Rudolf Steiner's Experimental Circle of Anthroposophic Farmers and Gardeners in 1928 and other Australian's, identified in this paper, followed his lead. In 1944 the world's first dedicated organic agriculture advocacy group, the Australian Organic Farming and Gardening Society, was founded in Sydney. Their Organic Farming Digest was first published in 1946 and continued for a decade. In Australia, Biodynamics and Organics got off to early starts.
