Peran Roh Kudus, Kepemimpinan Hamba, Gereja, dan Proses Pengembangan Warga Jemaat: suatu studi awal (The Roles of Holy Spirit, Servant Leadership, and Process Lay Development: a Preliminary Study

This preliminary study focuses on the relation between Pneumatology and the Servant Leadership concept used in church context. As the core of Servant Leadership is followers development and community building, this study delves on the relation of the metaphors used by 420 chosen subjects to explain the roles of the Holy Spirit, the roles of leader, and people development process. Results show that first, most subjects chose ”the captain of the ship” as the main metaphor of leadership role,” the ship” for church, and ”forming” for people development process. Second, there is no relationship between the metaphor of the roles of the Holy Spirit with the metaphor of leadership roles. Instead, the denomination of the subjects does relate to the metaphor of leadership roles. Those findings signify that subjects view leadership as leader-centered instead of people-centered or the Holy Spirit-centered. The results points out to the need of the church to understand and develop Servant Leader’s core features in church ministry context
