Storytelling is an indispensable teaching tool for the development of reading skills. The objective of the study was to understand the instrumentality of storytelling for the cognitive and emotional development of Early Childhood Education students. To this end, the study was based on a descriptive research, as to the ends, qualitative, as to the means, starting from a Historical-Deductive method, based on bibliographic and documentary data regarding the instrumentality of storytelling and the role teacher in this process.
