Data Trust: A Digital Collaboration Framework for Food Safety - phase A report

How should independent and competing organisations collaborate to make information accessible in a way that is safe, legally valid and demonstrably beneficial? Our solution is a collaboration framework that supports the sharing of information and insights between participating organisations and addresses different challenges between organisations in a way that is legal and useful. We analysed the challenge deeply to come up with a fresh blueprint for a solution, achieved by approaching the challenge from two directions. A collection of diverse supply chain use cases provided a bottom up approach. Broader research into the overarching legal, technical and organisational challenges provided a top down vision. We brought together experts from different fields – the food industry, economists, policymakers – to take a deep dive into the use cases and balance the insights gained from fieldwork with the insights gleaned from research.
