Background & objective: Creatine phosphokinase was measured serially in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and serum in forty patients, twenty each of pyogenic and tubercular meningitis. Twenty healthy cases act as control. The aim of the study is to find whether creatine phosphokinase levels has any diagnostic or prognostic significance in serum and C.S.F in cases of pyogenic and tubercular meningitis. Material and method: The enzymatic activity was measured serially on (1st, 3rd and 5th day) in cases of pyogenic meningitis and (1st, 3rd, 7th and 14th day) in tubercular meningitis.
