Abstract The study of voting behaviourur is of profound significance in democratic countries. It is a study that hovers around how people vote and how they decide to vote for a candidate. The present research work attempts to study the determinants of the voting behaviour of the people of the Pithoragarh district. For this purpose, an empirical investigation was conducted. An adequate sample size was drawn from the electorates of the Pithoragarh district. The study makes a modest effort to understand the socioeconomic profile of the electorates, their voting tendency, their voting practice as well as their political participation, and most importantly their voting behaviour in the Lok Sabha election and the Assembly election.
