The aim of the article is to answer the question how the deficiencies and indisposition of intellectual cognition can influence the moral actions of a person. Three vices have been analyzed: stupidity, ignorance and acedia. The natural desire to know (Aristotle) is expressed in the transition from potency to act; consists in a natural inclination to perfect knowledge, realizing the perfection of human nature; it is fulfilled in the happiness that comes from passing from theoretical to practical knowledge, because knowledge cannot be something vain (vanus).
