In religious clergy, blasphemy is considered a moral sin and regarded as subject to punishment. St. Thomas Aquinas considered blasphemy a sin. These laws were enacted since the medieval period that is why the paper aims to research what is blasphemy for European countries and it will also shed light on the blasphemy laws of different European states. In the past, the European Court of Human Rights upheld blasphemy laws and ruled out that an infringement of these laws doesn't cover freedom of speech.
