Molybdenum: Part II. Pyridine Carboxylic Acid Complexes of Oxo-Molybdenum (V)

A number of pyridine mono-and di-carboxylic acids have been investigated as co-ordinating ligands towards oxo-molybdenym (V). The following complexes are reported: (1) [MoOCl (Pic)2]; (2) [MoOCl2(Pic/Quin H/Nic). \(\frac{1}{2}\)(O-Phen)]; (3) [(MoO2 Pic] H2O; (4) (MoO2,Nic] 2H2O; (5) [MoOCI (Lut)\(\frac{1}{2}\) (O-Phen)]; and (6) [MoO2 (Pic) (tu)] (PicH).-Picolinic acid, NicH=Nicotinic acid; QuinH2=Quinolinic acid; LutH2.=Lutidinic acid & tu=Thiourea). The complexes are all highly coloured, cystalline and stable to air. They are either diamagnetic or show very low magnetic susceptibility.
