Synthesis of Some Basic N-4- Arylthiazolyl and N-4(Substituted) Arylthiazolyl Butyramides as Potential Local Anaesthetics

Manuscript received 2 February 1981, accepted 9 June 1981 Some new basic N-4-arylthiazolyl and N-4 (substituted) arylthiazolyl butyramides were prepared by treating 2-amino-4-arylthiazole and 2-amino-4 (substituted) arylthiazoles with 4-chlorobutyrylchloride whereby 2-amino-4-aryl and 2-amino-4 (substituted) arylthiazolyl butyryl chlorides were obtained. These afforded the title compounds on subsequent treatment with various amines. The hydrochlorides or almost all the compounds screened have shown considerable local anaesthetic activity
